Are you missing the right techniques to building your list…or is there an energetic problem here that needs to be solved first?
The answer is yes…and yes. Meaning, while you must have specific strategies in place to grow you list, if your list size isn’t growing rapidly then it’s likely there’s a energetic reason that must also be addressed.
Yes, I know this may sound like some flaky New Age philosophy but consider this: If list building were strictly about mechanics then everyone would have a rapidly growing database, when the truth is, this isn’t what most women entrepreneurs experience.
Or, consider the all-too frequent example of two entrepreneurs, each marketing to the same basic audience. One of them has a much smaller list yet makes considerably more. Why does this happen?
List building takes more than mere mechanics. Here are my personal secrets that will help YOU break through any energetic roadblocks you may be having, that are preventing your list from growing quickly and responding positively to your offers.
Tip #1 Be Honest: How Do You REALLY Feel About Becoming Bigger And More Successful?
Many women secretly fear becoming successful, thinking they won’t be able to “handle it.” It may not make sense logically, but if in your heart you too, feel this fear then it’s unlikely your list will grow. Remember, your business isn’t going to leap ahead ten-fold all at once. Growth happens in stages which means you’ll have the mindset, tools and resources you need as you increase your success. So, stop worrying about how you’ll “handle growth” and begin to release this energetic roadblock.
Tip #2 Ditch Comparing “Whose Is Bigger”
Comparing list sizes is a lot like comparing the size of…er, you get what I mean. This is a masculine approach that doesn’t match up with a woman’s sensibilities. Instead, focus on the one number that DOES count: which is, on average, how much is each person on your list worth to you in sales?
To calculate this critical number, simply divide the total amount of income you generated last year (before expenses, taxes, etc.) by the total number of people who were on your last by the end of that same time period. This tells you the VALUE of your list, which, in the long run, is more important than size. If the value is under $100 per person, it’s time to take a look at how you can improve the responsiveness of your list.
Tip #3 Who Do You Worry Will Feel Upset Or Uncomfortable If You Grow Too “Big For Your Britches?”
As an adult, it may be hard to admit but often there is someone from your past whose opinion of you, you still carry in your heart. If this is true for you, no worries. Recognizing who this person is and the opinion you are concerned they’ll have about you is an important first step in releasing what is likely holding you back.
What’s important is that YOU give yourself permission to grow your list, increase your success and feel fantastic about who you are. There are naysayers at every level so don’t mistakenly think that by laying low you avoid their criticism.
Do This To Quickly Grow Your List Without Triggering Many Of The Fears You May Be Having…
Chunk down your list building goals into small increments. For example, instead of setting a goal to double your list, focus on increasing it by just 20 percent over the next two months. Once you reach this goal, set a new one, making it 30 percent, and so on. This way, each increase will feel doable.
This is a great strategy for giving yourself time to adjust to your new level of success. As you do, each new level will feel comfortable and “normal,” making it easy for you to reach the next level. Before too long, you’ll look back and see how, over a six month period of time, you’ve significantly increased not only your list size, but your confidence!
