And being a woman entrepreneur means we have to recreate how we define success…and failure.
For guys, success is often defined by the numbers…how many units sold, how much money made, and did we beat out the competition.
For women, success can feel a lot more ambiguous. Just counting units sold or money made can leave us feeling as if we sold out our soul.
Beating out the competition? That’s an exercise in self-criticism and feeling defeated before we even begin.
For women, success is a richly complex tapestry of bettering our best, taking courageous action, building our emotional muscle, and yes, making awesome income.
Which means we have to figure out how to channel our perfectionism into useful ways that serve us, rather than hindering us from taking action.
And we must seek to find our inner strength so that we can tap into our true source of power: Faith and a fierceness to love who we’re becoming in this process — and who we’re meant to serve — that surpasses any feelings of fear.
So what is the first step?
Recreating the meaning we attach to failing. For me, failing can only happen if I don’t try.
And what if I DO try, and things don’t work out the way I envision?
What If I Fail?
I will try again | |
I will do something different the next time
I will have learned something incredibly useful
I will say, “How fascinating!“
I will be smarter because of the experience
I will be wiser because of the experience
I will congratulate myself for trying
I will start over | |
I will be stronger because of the experience
I will be one step farther on my road to mastery
I will have a great story to share with others, later
I will be experiencing life to its fullest
All great success stories start with a failure
I am stronger and tougher than any failure
In my heart, I know I am unstoppable |
Say these out loud to yourself, right now, and remember to be brave, because it’s time your brilliance shines through!
