Because in that moment, you realize that your potential — what you’ve been dreaming of, wishing for and desiring — can actually happen.
I call this, “Facing your greatness”, and for most women entrepreneurs, it’s an emotional cascade that is terrifying…humbling…and yes, exhilarating.
Facing your greatness means two things: First, that staying where you are is no longer an option. It’s natural to immediately start thinking “I’m not good enough” or “I’m not ready” but keep in mind those are just thoughts…they are not truth!
Second, it means it’s time to get a handle on key tools that will help pull you forward, giving you momentum and focus. Do this, and those pesky thoughts of self-doubt will disappear.
Which brings me to goal setting. I know, I know…you probably groaned when you heard me say it. But stay with me here on this…
Because I’m going to share with you a completely new and different approach to creating goals, that serves you as the Feminine CEO of your business, perfectly, and in ways the traditional masculine approach never could.
The traditionally masculine approach to goal setting often feels stressful or pressured, and seems to bypass the emotional commitment that a Feminine CEO needs in order to feel inspired and motivated to take action.
But if you look at the word “goal”, and see it as an acronym that I’ve created for it, you’re going to instantly shift your energy so that you can achieve your goals with grace and power.
G (is for Growth)
O (is for Opportunity)
A (is for Action)
L (is for Leverage and Love)
Here’s what this looks like, specifically for you in your business:
#1. G Is For Growth
If every goal you create for your business has a personal development aspect to it, you’re going to feel inspired and excited, especially during those moments when you may feel “up against your stuff”. Even simple goals like hiring an assistant, producing your first Internet launch or raising your fees can serve as the catalyst for powerful mindset shifts that leap you forward.
Here’s the coaching: For each goal you create, answer these two questions, “What have you been thinking you would need to give up or not be able to handle if you achieved this goal?” Jot down your answer, then ask, “If that concern were no longer true, who would you be free to BE as a result of achieving this goal?”
#2. O Is For Opportunity
When you create clear goals, you’re also opening a door to possibility. Only, here’s the catch: opportunities don’t always show up at the most convenient, easiest or planned for of times. They DO show up exactly when we need them, even if it initially doesn’t always appear that way.
Which means you need to keep your eyes and ears open to the opportunities that will begin showing up for you. Just don’t look for them to be presented to you wrapped in a pretty bow!
Here’s the coaching: What is an opportunity in front of you right now, that if you said yes to it, or at least took the first step, would move you forward? Write it down now.
#3. A Is For Action
Women are often afraid of failing, and they mistakenly feed that fear by trying to figure out the actions steps of achieving a goal before even getting started.
The truth is, it’s often impossible to see the exact steps you’ll need to take, when you’re at the start of a goal. For now, the only step you need to take is to clearly declare what your goal is. Do this first and you’ll immediately see what the next step is…then the next and the next will illuminate themselves to you.
Here’s the coaching: Choosing one of your current business goals, what is the next, small step that needs to be taken to move it — and you! — forward? Is it a phone call, an email that needs to be sent, or someone you need to hire? Make this step small and get it done in the next 24 hours!
#4. L Is For Leverage and Love
Being the leader of your business doesn’t mean you have to go it all alone. Your business can be one of the greatest sources of connection, creativity, joy and yes, love in your life. Which means it’s time to tap into your naturally feminine qualities of collaboration and shared creativity.
When you leverage the talents, resources, ideas and feedback from others, you multiply your chances of success and accelerate how quickly you can reach your goal.
Here’s the coaching: Who do you need to tap to get onboard with reaching your goal? Consider this: You’re only one person away from every resource you need to support you in reaching your goal. Everything you need to reach your goal is right at your fingertips IF you ask for help. So get out of your own way and make a Big Ask today.
