One of the Best Practices I love teaching the women in my certified coach training is how to navigate rocky, unexpected situations with grace.
Because while we can’t control external events, we are at choice in how we experience those events.
And while it isn’t always easy for me to share publicly what happens for me privately, I did today on a call with my Certified coaching students and it created a beautiful, rich conversation about how to show up as powerfully vulnerable.
That conversation inspired me to share what happened, with you, too…
Rio, one of my beloved Andalusian horses had emergency abdominal colic surgery in the middle of Saturday night.
We saw his symptoms at dinner time and immediately sprung into action…
So instead of spending a quiet Saturday night with me nursing having the flu, Richard and I found ourselves driving 3 hours up to Phoenix, praying Rio would stay standing in the trailer until we could get him help.
Every problem that was thrown at us that night kept presenting me with a choice: go with fear or go with fierce faith.
I chose fierce faith and with many breaths of relief, it felt like miracle after miracle kept unfolding to support us…
In a sea of sold out hotels we found a hotel room near the vet hospital at 1am who would take us and our dog, Ruby.
Ruby handled her first hotel experience better than we hoped (and didn’t try to eat the people in the hall outside of our room).
The veterinary surgeon (a woman) was fantastic, showing up fresh and cheerful at 3am to start the surgery.
Rio came through the surgery beautifully and we’re expecting to bring him home in a week. He has months of recovery ahead of him but he should come back into full ridability.
(A picture of Rio and me taken during a happier time)
I remember as we drove down the dark highway that night, not knowing what was going to happen or if he would survive, feeling being at choice, which is what living the coaching lifestyle has given me.
And it’s why I take a powerful stand for women choosing to be a coach and stepping fully into creating a lucrative, soulful coaching business.
It’s because of choosing coaching as my career that I now have the income, the freedom and the flexibility in my schedule to be able to handle emergencies like what happened with Rio this weekend.
Plus, it’s what’s given me a wealth of confidence that comes when you’re living a life that feels so incredibly on purpose.
Choosing a coaching career is what’s done this for me, and if this is the kind of lifestyle you’d love too, I always love to support you.
