Why you want to be like Velcro with money, not like Teflon

by | Sep 11, 2018 | Coach Training

I’ve heard it again and again…

“Kendall, why is it that no matter how much money I bring in, all of it seems to flow right back out?”

Sure, it’s commonly accepted that in the early months of launching your coaching business you may have more money going out than coming in…but what if that wasn’t necessary?

And what if, as you grow into becoming a high income earner in your business — 6-figures and beyond — you don’t have to tolerate making more only to see it flow right back out just as quickly?

Women get into this cycle because they’re being Teflon with their money, letting it slip on out as quickly as it comes in, when what you need to be is like Velcro, with money sticking to you (or in your bank account).

And that’s where solving this situation gets a little sticky (no pun intended).

Because weird as it may sound, for most women, having more money makes them uncomfortable.

Like, really, really uncomfortable.

Here’s why: Most women — especially ambitious, passionate women — secretly struggle with believing that no matter how accomplished or capable they are, they are still, in some way, not good enough.

Not good enough is a belief…and in order for that belief to stay locked in place it looks for and creates evidence of “not good enoughness.”

So when you start making money, the act of that accomplishment causes the not good enough belief to feel threatened.

And (this is the weird but oh so true part) while you consciously want to keep more of what you make, that belief will override your conscious thoughts every time.

Your beliefs are that powerful!

The belief of not good enough wants to get back to status quo ASAP. It wants to be rid of the uncomfortableness of feeling threatened.

And the surest way it knows to do this is by getting rid of what it perceives is the source of discomfort: the money.

This is what I call the Belief Cycle that you may be caught in….but you are not stuck in!

How do you break free so that you can experience how amazing it feels to have more money in your life?

Because having more money is what’s going to give you the lifestyle you desire, the time freedom you crave, and the feeling of accomplishment that is your divine right to experience.

Creating a different experience for yourself is easier than you think if you know what to do.

First, you’ll want to reset your beliefs about not being good enough.

If you want to get my process for this that is simple and highly effective, I recommend listening to a training call I did recently (it’s FREE).

Next, money loves purpose so make a decision today what you’ll do with the profit coming in through your business.

Do you want to upgrade where you live? Go on a holiday? Hire a housekeeper to free your time? Buy or lease a new car? Hire a personal trainer?

The choice is up to you but by all means, make the choice now so that you can start experiencing the Velcro effect with money.

And while there are at least 25 other tips I could easily share with you on this topic, the final one I’ll give you today is this: You must feel it’s safe to have more money.

Women have lots of issues around money and safety…everything from “What will others think of me?” to “What if someone takes the money I’m making?” or “Will I be harshly judged?” or “What if I can’t keep making money like this?” to one of the all time biggies: “If I make more what will that do to my relationship with my husband/partner?”

Not feeling safe to have more money is a topic I’ll address in an upcoming article.

But for now, let me reassure you – every safety issue can be elegantly handled by resetting your beliefs about money.

(Here’s the link again for instant access to the free training on how to do this for yourself).

Beliefs are powerful but YOU are in charge of them (they’re yours after all).

If you consider mastering your money beliefs in the same light as mastering other strategies needed to thrive in your coaching business then you will create a lucrative business that you are 100% in love with…and you’ll love who you become in the process.
