From a business perspective, nothing could be easier than email marketing. Simply gather a few names and email addresses, pop out a few emails and, voila! You’re making sales. And, email is STILL the best way to add leverage to your business.
It takes courage to market via email because every time you press send, you’re allowing yourself to be vulnerable. What if they don’t respond? What if they don’t like what I have to say? What if I’m not a confident writer? All of these are common feelings of self-worth that I often hear getting triggered in my clients as we begin to plan their email marketing campaigns.
While I can’t guarantee that everyone on your list will respond to each email you send, I CAN encourage you to:
- Send more emails than you probably feel comfortable with
- Brush up on your writing skills
- Learn how NOT to take your results personally
It’s super exciting to see how, with just a few emails, hundreds or even thousands of people register for your preview call, with dozens signing up for your program offers.
To help you create these kind of exciting results in your business, here are four tips that will help you minimize self-doubt and maximize your email marketing results.
Secret #1 Frequency Out Pulls Proficiency As Long As You Always Do This…
Instead of trying to sell something in your email, give people a reason to take action by clearly illuminating the specific problem your teleseminar, course or program will solve. You can easily do this by sharing a tip or a strategy within your email that is directly related to the topic of your upcoming program. Your readers will appreciate the value you’re offering and will want to keep reading your emails.
Secret #2 Write An Enticing Subject Line
Your email won’t sell for you if it isn’t read. To help get people excited about seeing you in their inbox I first recommend using their name in the subject line. Then, follow it up by asking a question. Questions make awesome subject lines because our brains are wired to automatically want to answer a question, which means you’ll have instantly captured your readers’ attention and curiosity.
Secret #3 Remember, It’s Still All About Relationship
I make it a habit to start each promo email with either a personal note letting my readers know what I’m doing at the time of writing the email, or, a sentence or two about why I’m reaching out to them will be of benefit to them. If you take the personal anecdote approach, there’s no need to go overboard with personal details but people DO appreciate knowing who you are, what you’re like, what your hobbies are and a bit about your lifestyle and values.
Secret #4 Step Up The Pace For Better Results
Launching just a few programs each year doesn’t give you enough momentum to really become confident and effective at writing emails that sell. I recommend launching something new every few weeks, or at the latest, every couple of months. Aim for not letting more than a week or two go by between your offers.
You can write a free tip sheet, record a 20 minute tips audio, host a content-rich call…whatever you do, keep yourself in action so you keep learning and improving your results.
Vow To Stop Taking Your Results Personally And Start Reviewing Them Simply As Information
Women are too quick to assume “Nobody wants what I have” or “I’m not good enough” simply because their emails didn’t get the response they hoped for.
Ladies, please! Stop tearing yourself down in this way. Marketing via email is simple and even better, it’s a skill that anyone can learn. So, relax from putting so much pressure on yourself and instead, look for where you can improve. And then, watch as your next campaign gets even better results for you.
