I am sooooo not a rules girl.
Not in my life. Not in my business.
And for sure, not in my coaching style.
Like the rule that says you’re supposed to ‘let the client lead the agenda.’
That rule sets you up to be in a reactive position as a coach (meaning, you follow their lead, responding to what they decided to coach on)…
…rather than taking a proactive position, where you own your authentic leadership and ask the juicy questions that create client breakthroughs.
Being reactive?
It’s an old-school approach that opens the door to hearing, “I’m not sure what I want to coach on today” which results in higher client dropout rates.
Plus, it subtly creates the feeling that you’re not supposed to speak your truth, which means holding back from giving your clients what they need to thrive.
I tried it. Felt totally inauthentic doing it.
Then finally I threw out the rule book and created my own style of coaching — called Courageous Coaching® — that so many women wanted to learn that I now certify hundreds of students in it every year.
Client retention increased (hello, less marketing!).
It was easy to start charging premium fees.
And looking back, I see that on a soul level, I was giving myself exactly the permission I needed to say yes to my authentic feminine leadership qualities, without apology.
Breaking that one rule opened the door to more clients, making a lot more money, and feeling unshakeable confidence that I bring value to the world.
(There were plenty of other rules I broke, which I’ll tell you about later next week).
