Coaching agreements checklist (You’ll love this!)

Coaching is the dream business to run but it IS a business, and every business needs agreements in place.

If you’ve ever felt a little unclear about what your coaching agreements should look like, this article is for you!

Here’s how you want to think about your agreements:

1. The Energy Of Agreements Is Clarity And Communication.

Presenting clients with an agreement is more than just being professional, it’s clearly communicating how you work and what you expect of your clients.

Without this, anything goes, right?

And can quickly find yourself in an unpleasant situation where you’re either being taken advantage of, not being paid, or being over-available.

Your coaching agreement is your opportunity to decide on how you want to handle basics such as payment, scheduling, last minute cancellations, and if or when you’re available between sessions.

Yes, this requires thought and decision making.

And no, being new, or ‘only having a few clients’ is not a reason to skip having a basic agreement in place.

You getting clear on the basics is what makes your coaching business easy to run, helps you feel legit, and gives you tons of freedom.

2. The Purpose Of Agreements Is Protecting Your Boundaries.

A common trend I’ve seen in the coaching industry is coaches feeling they have to be fully available, all of the time, to every client.

OMG, NO!

That’s people pleasing and does nothing to help you grow a successful, thriving, profitable business.

Here’s your mindset on this: You standing in your power with clear boundaries, models for your clients to do the same.

You only want to work 3 days a week? Let clients know in your agreement when you’re available.

Happy to provide Voxer support between sessions? Or want to give yourself 24 hours to respond? Put it in your agreement.

My coaching agreements clearly list what and how I am available.

No drama.

No explaining.

No apology.

3. The Outcome Of Agreements Is Trust.

When you’ve put into writing your rules of engagement, you can relax, knowing you’ve got your basics covered.

Agreements create certainty, and your clients will feel that as well.

People relax when they know what is expected of them, and that trust and relaxing helps clients get better results coaching with you.

In summary, coaching agreements are a must-have and create a clear, purposeful relationship with your client.

They ensure both of you are on the same page, and you both can feel that sense of trust and trustworthiness that is so important in your coaching relationship.

And know that you’re never too busy or too new to start using even a basic coaching agreement!

You’ll feel so much better about your business when you do.

Remember that as an emerging Business Coach, you are a leader for yourself, for your company and for your clients.

Xo,

Kendall
